What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is relaxing treatment option that helps decrease pain and promote healing. During the treatment, thin sterile needles are inserted into specific areas of the body called acupuncture points. The needles are left in for a period of time. The goal of the treatment is to stimulate the body to produce more endorphins which help decrease pain and promote healing. Endorphins are naturally occurring chemicals that our body produces. Acupuncture also works by activating nerve fibres that interfere with pain signals being sent to the brain.

Is Acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture is a very safe and effective treatment option. The needles used are sterile and are discarded after use. Acupuncture treatment also rarely produces side effects.

What conditions is Acupuncture used for?

Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of conditions such as frozen shoulder, whiplash injuries, back pain, plantar fasciitis, osteoarthritis, post-injury pain, sciatica and more. Please note this list is not exhaustive.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment in which pressure waves are generated by compressed air. The energy produced by these pulses spread into underlying tissue areas to help promote healing by increasing circulation to the area.

Shockwave can be beneficial to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, back pain, jumper’s knee, runner’s knee, shin splints, shoulder calcifications and muscle tension. Please note this list is not exhaustive.
